Mr. Moore, I don't mind buying a $20 at a later date, but it damn well better be near-expansion-pack quality. Javik is lucky he came with my copy of the game (which ultimately was an $80 sale, oops at me) because he wasn't worth an entire $20 to me.
My consolation is that the $80 Collector edition of the game did include extra goods that made that extra $20 worthwhile--Metal game case that is almost impossible to remove the disks from, N7 patch, mini artbook, lithos, mini first issue of Mass Effect: Invasion comic, and DLC avatar prop on top of the DLC character that would have been $20 by himself.
Otherwise, if I was a more frugal-minded, or late-to-the-party player of ME3, I'd have waited for From Ashes to go on sale.
Well, that's about as surprising as being able to play a character named Shepard in Mass Effect.
It's the issue with companies wanting to get a piece of the used games pie, I have no problem with used games, I've bought a few myself as well as bought a majority of my games new because I liked the franchise and wanted to support it with money.
It's just a sad fact that these tactics actually work since as much as we talk about not buying games/movies/whatever with these type of greedy attachments, there are still enough people out there who will throw money at it if it gives them an edge or a little bonus compared to others.
This was pretty obvious to me. What I really want them to come out and admit was how cynical a cross-marketing ploy "Diana Allers" was. What a gross waste of space and resources.
Same. I gave her a chance, because BioWare has a history of surprising me with characters, but no, she has all the compelling personality of a houseplant. And on top of it, she feels like the marketing ploy she is- she doesn't fit in the universe, or make it any more interesting.
Hey, it could be worse. From Ashes wasn't really $20 worth of content... but at least it was content. And didn't have a celebrity's face on it. (I'm a fan of The Sims, and the way EA sucks money out of that fanbase makes one bit of overpriced day-one DLC seem like a bargain.)
