This was pretty obvious to me. What I really want them to come out and admit was how cynical a cross-marketing ploy "Diana Allers" was. What a gross waste of space and resources.

No kidding. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt right up until playing but no, no, that was a total waste.

Same. I gave her a chance, because BioWare has a history of surprising me with characters, but no, she has all the compelling personality of a houseplant. And on top of it, she feels like the marketing ploy she is- she doesn't fit in the universe, or make it any more interesting.

I never kicked her off the Normandy, but after a few times going down there and having zero conversation with her, I completely forgot she existed until she wanted to do that pointless interview with me. I was just like "oh yeah, she's a thing." She added absolutely nothing to the game!

Yeah. I find it telling that the fandom pretty much ignores Allers. We can get into hair pulling and shirt rending over whether we like or dislike various characters, but we always talk about them in terms of their place in the story and who they are as people. Like, we talk about Al-Jilani as a real person, and we all have opinions about whether or not it's right to sock her one, etc. But Allers/Chobot may as well not even exist to most of us. It's a weirdly worse indictment than disliking a character- she failed to even register on the radar past "obvious marketing ploy".

I agree with everything here and also want to add, Jessica Chobot is not a very good voice actor.

In conclusion:

It didn't help that every time I talked to her, Chobot was interacting with the most experienced voice actors in the business. The contrast didn't help anything. Chobot seems to only have her 'radio' voice... she couldn't manage to sound conversational, it all sounded like it was coming off a queue card.

Hey, that's insulting to my potted rutabaga! =)

Yeah I wish there was a way to introduce her to an airlock. And was it just me, or did her face look not right, like it was about to melt or something...

And she did not fit at all, true.

She was a waste of space and I am very mad they recycled her body mesh into FemShepard's 'formal' attire. ME2's formal dress was actually appropriate. I don't want a dress where FemShep's buttcrack and boobs have tight-clothing ripples between them!

They should have brought back the formal attire for both genders and given both Shepards that awesome leather jacket.

Typical sexist Bioware, MShep gets awesome jacket, FShep gets fetish gear
