Ouch. I commiserate; I have to leave on a business trip on March 6th, and won't be back until late Friday probably... so unless my store is having Midnight Madness I won't even be able to pick up my preorder until sometime Saturday.
-- Steve'll have to stop by and make arrangements; he doesn't want to lose his Collector's Edition.
Apparently complaining is the way to go - my motherboard just shipped!
I'm sure your store will hold your preorder for a few days? You did pay for it. (Mine's being shipped by Amazon, which usually takes a week, but I've just moved to a major city, so that'll hopefully save some time.)
I haven't paid for it yet, only put a deposit on it. This weekend I plan to finish prepaying it at the counter and ask them to hold my copy for the weekend... unless they have a Midnight Madness, which'd make it easier for me to just show up for that and then leave it at home for the week.
-- Steve can catch up on his sleep on the trip up; the company's springing for a van.
If it makes you feel ANY better, my collector's edition preorder is off on the other side of the city (where I lived when I made it), and since the game releases in the middle of a work week I won't be playing until that Saturday most likely. Oh, and have fillings to be done that Friday. GREAT PLANNING OF THAT WEEK, SELF.
So I feel your pain. I'm replaying the demo over and over again in anticipation, so avoiding the game until the weekend will kill me. :P
I feel your pain - I can't afford to buy a new computer, so I'm biting my nails, wondering if my dinky little laptop (which has served me faithfully for years, without any problems) can even run the demo. I was barely able to play ME2 and DA2, having to play using the most minimal of settings, yet I've preordered the CE.
My laptop, according to the minimum specs, should not have been able to run either of those games, and did, provided I didn't want to see things like shadows. Or trees that were more than five feet away. *g*
Okay, the good news is, I can run the ME3 demo on my laptop, which bodes well for when I get the full game.
The bad news is, the gorgeous backdrops are gone, replaced by a white nothingness, and whenever a character is silhouetted against the sky, the edges of their figures are awfully pixelated. This includes ships, like the shuttles and the Normandy. D:
There's some slight chop, but that's to be expected, but characters move smoothly, and so do their lips, so that's fine. The lighting was odd in the courtroom access scene; Kaidan's face was nearly hidden in shadows.
I can totally understand. I have been planning to buy a new computer since after DA2 was released and was supposed to have it by now... But, as always, life happens and the money had to be used for something else. I'm waiting for the demo now (even though I promised myself I wouldn't play it because I wanted to avoid the spoilers) to try the game and see if my old laptop will survive it. It's a strong little thing but, just like you, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to let it try... But the demo at least should be ok, right? right?
The demo might be a good indicator of how things work? The laptop will survive, you might just get DISCO STROBE LIGHT GAME.
I've been doing math tutoring on top of my regular job and using that money to buy one computer part a month (or two if it was cheap stuff like a DVD reader and RAM), which has helped in terms of budgeting. Fortunately life has not thrown me more than a couple of curveballs. >.
