Getting to know you...

Annie tagged me for my ten random/weird/little known facts about me. I think I'll start young and build from there since I have not formulated a mental list for this.

1. When I was in elementary school my best friend and I thought the hill on the play ground was hallow. We were not allowed up on the hill because there was brush and then the teachers couldn't see you. We would sneak up there some times taking a boy with us as a decoy. We would jump up and down to find the hallow spot and then dig. If we thought a teacher was coming we would make the decoy run out and down the hill to give us a few more minutes. We never found the hallow part.

2. In 4th grade I joined my other classmates in an effort to get our pe teacher fired. She was mean and made us do all these dumb things we didn't want to do. There were three petitions that were scripted. Some how I was the only student to sign all three. In fact I was the only female to sign any of them. I got called into the office but missed out on getting detention. Also, Ms. France the pe teacher did not get fired.

3. Growing up I mostly hung out with a few boys from my youth group at church and most all of them happened to be home schooled. Every summer we would have a "super great big idea." One summer the plan was to build a stage in the back yard and put on Shakespearean plays. Well that plan never came to fruition but it would have been nice.

4. In the tail-end of middle school and the beginning of high school I was your basic sci-fi/fantasy reading, role-playing type of girl. I had a magic bag that we stitched together from felt and jute rope. Inside the bag was some glass beads I got from the Renn Fair and some salt we had colored with chalk to represent magic dust. We also made some gold nuggets out of a dough like clay.

5. I too was in a band - a ska band. I was the singer. We practiced all the time at the drummer's unconditioned house for one hot summer. Our band name changed every practice. We performed at the talent show at my church and school. We also made it to the talent stage of Atlanta Fest where were we judged by Christian industry professionals. Unfortunately I started off flat and never got back on track, but Switchfoot later took the stage that evening so I can say I've shared the stage with Switchfoot.

6. I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was in the fourth grade. I was a late bloomer in that aspect. My parents didn't even teach me. A friend in the neighborhood did. For a long time I had a scooter and I would just tell the other kids I would catch up, before the scooter I would just run. To this day bikes still make me apprehensive and I have to work up a lot of nerve to want to ride one. I also cannot skate. I think it has something to do with wanting to be in control of what my body is doing.

7. I wanted to be an actress in high school. I did every play my school offered and even auditioned for plays in the community and even got a part in one once. I took jazz dance and tap and voice lessons to aid in furthering my star-dom. Every Saturday when I was 16 I would drive myself in a navy blue Buick Century into downtown Atlanta to take acting classes.

8. No matter how hard I try not to secretly wish this I still do. I want to be noticed for something - like noticed in a big way. I want to be famous and respected for something.

9. I still sleep with a blanket. I have all my life. It's the same one I was given when I was born. It's a Winnie the Pooh blanket. At this point in life I would say I don't need it (I can sleep with out it) but I'm not trying to get rid of it either.

10. Man this is the last one...once my mom and I confided in each other that we have always secretly wished we could give birth to a black baby because we think they look so much better than white babies.

PS: I hate jello, pudding, carrots and shepard's pie.
