Just watched Velvet Goldmine in its entirety. Wow. I loved it. It just got a bit slow in some parts (as well as having major gaps without Arthur... agh! Haha.) But I loved it. Arthur Stuart was such an adorable character. That was actually the movie in which I first really noticed Christian Bale, since they play it all the time on LOGO, but I never got all the way through the movie, not to mention it is edited. In the actual film you see Curt (Ewan McGregor) entirely unclothed, being a total insane fool on stage. The thing about his character is that it seems too straight. I mean I'm all for bending the rules as far as stereotypes go, but he just seems like the straightest guy in a movie I've ever seen. Of course his character and the character of Slade are bisexual. Hypersexual bisexuals in fact. Which makes it interesting for me. And Curt has the prettiest hair... I seriously think that this movie may make me a Ewan fangirl. But I am now a major fan of the Arthur/Curt pairing fan. They were sooo cuuute together. Agh. Damn me and my weird obsessions with men being together when they have this odd perfection and adorable quality together. There is just something inexplicably magical about this film. And I don't quite know what it is, but it's perversely sweet, and a strange film. I personally don't find it weird... However I am sure many other people would. Haha. I love it though. I have to watch it again. For anyone who doesn't know, this film is based on Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie & David Bowie's relationship with Iggy Pop. I'm sure you can guess who is who. Apparently Bowie didn't endorse the film because he thought it was not accurate enough. Strangely enough, Bale didn't meet Bowie on The Prestige... He never even saw him. Isn't that weird? Though I think it would have been more helpful to him if he had met him before Velvet Goldmine, which Bale said. Oh well. It's awesome. Galen MUST see this, since he is an avid Bowie fan. Which I'm listening to now, and falling absolutely in love with. It's the perfect music to listen to after that film. I highly recommend this film. I keep on falling in love with films that Christian Bale is in. He truly chooses interesting if not intricate films. I love it.
