Motivation

WARNING: The following post features pictures of me shirtless. These pictures may not be suitable for children of… well, any age. Do not view these photos if you have a weak stomach, heart problems, are nursing, pregnant or wish to become pregnant at any point in your life.

Okay, now that that’s out of the way, here’s the deal.

As of a measurement I just took a few moments ago, I currently weigh 216 pounds. I am overweight and out of shape, in a bad way. I wish to correct that. When I was at my peak shape, I was in college and taking Judo classes everyday, and I weighed 160 pounds. Now, personally, I think 160 might be a little out of my doable range, so my goal is to get down to 180 pounds.

However, weight loss is not my only goal. I also wish to get into better shape. That means, for me, a flatter stomach (preferably, the typical “6-pack” abs), and better muscle definition. Now, I’ve always been taught that goals should be measurable. However, “flat stomach and better muscle definition” are a little hard to measure. So, I’ve included the below pictures of myself. Not only are these personal motivators (“Man, I so don’t want to look like THAT anymore”), but my plan is to post an update once a month, with new pictures, so I can compare and see how I am doing.

Also, I figure that posting them here for friends of mine to see, it kinda forces me to have something to post in the next update. Yes, that’s right, I’m using you all as a living guilt trip to get me to actually lose weight.

Now, here’s my plan. I am implementing (re-implementing, really) the following exercise regime. Every morning, I will get up at 4am, and work out. This workout will consist of some form of Cardio, interspersed with some form of Strength Training. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I plan on using this device I have called 6-Second Abs, that’s a crunch machine, so I can do crunches at maximum effectiveness. On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, I plan on using a new device I just bought, that’s a resistance band for “rowing” exercises. It also works the abdominal muscles, as well as your legs, as I found out this morning. In the afternoon, at work, I will be taking my half-hour lunch breaks to do some form of running or walking. Walking will be done outside, up and down hills, with weights in my hands. Running will be done on the Eliptical machine we have here at work. I just did a run, and was rather pleased with the results. I ran for 20 minutes, had an average speed of approximately 4.2 MPH, and burned 272 calories. And I feel great. That’s another motivator, I feel fantastic. I want to feel like this all the time.

So, now that I’ve bared all that down, time to bare one last thing. I apologize in advance.
