PARIS, France (AFP) - In an anonymous letter, a source claiming to be close to opera soprano Christine Daaé says that she divulged heretofore unknown details surrounding her ordeal with the masked madman known as The Phantom of the Opera.
The allegations against Miss Daaé’s former mentor include mesmerism, psychological manipulation, inappropriate touching, physically threatening her fiancé, and impersonating both a heavenly entity and her dead father. “The way she keeps going on and on about that music box makes me fear for her sanity,” the source wrote. “I felt that if the suffering that she endured were to be brought out into the open and this masked fiend held accountable, it might help her move on with her life.”
Mr. Opera, currently working on a project in Namibia, could not be reached for comment.
