Flash Day!
1. I really need to get me a Flash-related icon.
2. Today was a not-so-good day, RL-speaking, because the due date for a bunch of our projects got bumped up, so everyone's scrambling to get things done. Also, I missed all the live-tweeting fun because of our "two-hour lunch break" that was spent at the mall. If it had been up to me, I would've worked right through lunch to finish earlier, but I got outvoted.
3. But it was a GREAT day fandom-wise. Because of the detour to the mall, I finally managed to find a pair of thunderbolt earrings and a red nail polish filled with faintly duochrome red-to-gold flakies (Layla Cosmetics CE53 Killing Red. Not just an awesome colour, but an awesome name, which gets bonus points from me!) and is going to be PERFECT for future Flash-related nail art! Picture under the cut.
4. THE FLASH. The premiere was still good the second time around, and in some ways better now that I know a little more about the mythology. Spoilers for The Flash 1x01 under the cut and spoilers for general Flash mythology (I don't think this counts as spoilers for The Flash since they're probably going to change a lot, but fair warning for those who want to watch The Flash completely spoiler-free).
4a. I'm not fond of how they had to kill Barry's mom to give him motivation or whatever. I understand they had to change his backstory somewhat to fit the fact that there is no previous Flash in this universe, but why must all protagonists have tragic backstories? That said, I do like how they kept Barry's being a fanboy of superheroes by making him an Arrow fan.
4b. 1 episode in, and I already like Barry waaaay more than Oliver. Actually, scratch that, I liked Barry more than Oliver back when he was guest-starring in Arrow. Barry's just so much more likeable.
4c. OMG Iris is gorgeous. At the moment, I'm not really shipping her with Barry, because I like Barry/Felicity more based on what I've seen of them on Arrow. But Barry/Iris has this whole epic love story that spans time and space! So I'm kind of torn. I'm SUPER excited for the crossover episodes to see how they all interact, and if the Barry/Felicity chemistry has changed.
4d. Totally fangirling over Jesse L. Martin and Tom Cavanagh. And they're just entertaining to watch. Because LBR, most CW actors aren't chosen for their acting ability. But I'm really excited to see more of their characters, and especially see them get less exposition-heavy lines.
4e. EASTER EGGS. GAMBI CLEANERS. *SQUEE*
5. SO MUCH VANCOUVER IN THE PILOT HOMG. And Translink apparently services Central and Starling Cities too LOL. It's actually kind of jarring to me though, when they switch to the CG city set used in the background of the running scenes, because it's so obviously not-Vancouver. Apparently the major SFX studio they use is LA-based, so I guess they're not familiar with the PNW look, or maybe they're purposely trying to make Central City look a little more midwest?
Still, it's nice to know that if I ever move away from Vancouver (which I hope not, I love my city dearly), if I get nostalgic I can see so much of my city in TV shows!

6. Maybe it's because the show, even with its bits of corniness, just fills me with so much positivity and glee, but I think The Flash is going to be a really big thing, and not just because it's a spinoff of Arrow. Here's hoping, anyways!
7. Spoiler warning: first official pictures of Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold! and a trailer showing him in action!. I was a little disappointed with the outfit we saw him in from the set pics (with regards to the character, not as actual clothes, because damn he looked gooooood in those). He's looking a little bit Terminator-ish for my liking in the first picture, but he has an actual parka! With a fur hood! I hope we get to see him with the hood up too. Although LOOOL thinking about Wentworth having to put on all those layers while filming in Vancouver in August.
And thanks to tebtosca for tweeting me the link while I was offline. It was seriously the only thing that got me through 2 hours of back and forth "planning". I love that my whole timeline is like, "hey, mashimero hasn't freaked out about this bit of Wentworth-related news, she must not have seen it yet *sends link*". But seriously though, never stop you guys XDDDD
