Fly Me to the Moon

Well, the first full night of observing with the new telescope went very well. It took a while to align the finderscope (which I should have done in the daytime), and then some cloud cover was obscuring Polaris. Finding decent alignment stars took about half an hour, but then all was well. Despite the light polluted sky, I saw the Lagoon Nebula, the Hercules Cluster, several other open clusters, the Andromeda galaxy, Jupiter, Uranus, and even Neptune! It was worth spending the extra time aligning. Tonight its too cloudly to go out again, but next week I'll be in Flag!

I can't wait for Thursday! I'm going by train to Michelle's house in California. I am so excited. We're going to Disneyland, out to the beach, and taking the train back to Flag together. I miss her so much. Just 4 more days!
