A new Bag End
I really should get back to blogging a bit more. Not because I believe anyone really READS my blog but more because it's a good mental exercise for me.
As of today we have been in the new house for 7 days. I have been through all ranges of emotions and I won't lie. To begin with I had thought I had made a mistake. But in retrospect, that happens a lot when it comes to change that doesn't go smoothly with a soundtrack of violin concertos. It has been work. Lordy has it been work. And to begin with, it was mostly my husband doing the work. He undertook the grubbiest jobs on his own impulse, in an attempt to lift my spirits.
I am now sitting in a living area that I am amazed to say I own. On the one hand, it's mine. And on the other - it looks good. Wow. No seriously. Wow. I'm kinda proud of it.
The kitchen is a whole other story but it has the space to be a stunning work of art when we go full force with the plan. Hmmm ok the kitchen project has been named Project Johnnycake. Hey, why not?
The one thing I am struggling with is a name for the house. I really kinda like High Cockalorum but there are a few of the Bahamian names too - chickcharney for one.
Ah well, I can only presume that the house will let me know when it's good and ready.
The goal for the long weekend is to get the vegetable garden planted and the washer and dryer working so that I CAN DO LAUNDRY!!!
