Although I have tried to keep myself from feeling too "fannish" and watching everything Jensen or Jared have been in, so far I've been failing miserably. I've already fallen into the black hole that is J2 fiction, and was able to tread water recently on TV shows. I will relate my downfall.
It all started when
sapporonoodles made me come over to her house and watch Cry Wolf with her simply because Jared was advertised as the main character. He wasn't really the main character, and we had fun painting toenails and making fun of the movie anyway.
My sources (*cough*IMDB*cough*) later revealed to my that Jensen used to be on Dark Angel, a show that I was blissfully unaware of the plot or actors, except for the knowledge that a friend's mom had worked as a PA on the set when it was in production (And, no, I don't know who she was PA'ing for), and the vague idea that Jessica Alba was on it.
I decided I really didn't need to get into another TV show, as I am already following too many
Smallville, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, NCIS, Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls and more recently, House. Luckily, I am not a diehard fan of most of those, however, when I have recently found myself with more time on my hands, I spend too much time watching television and TV episodes online and not enough time doing other more productive things. For an example of the downhill trend, I will ennumerate. In the last week, I watched 2/3 of the first season of House (hampered only by the fact that the third disk was checked out of the video store), and 3 out of 6 disks of the second season (I also, to my credit, have read about 4 books and done lots of house cleaning).
However, I was talked (by
sapporonoodles, my fellow conspiritor) into a potential marathon of Dark Angel, only to have scheduling issues. I was temporarily saved, but found, to my great delight and general dismay that the local english-hispanic channel plays a new episode of Dark Angel every evening and that night showed the episode entirely dedicated to Jensen's character's past. I was hooked.
Then, upon further research, I discovered that Dark Angel had one Michael Weatherly in it, and that was the final death toll on my
freedom. Michael Weatherly is a regular on NCIS, and utterly charming, so I was curious to see what other work he had done. This lead up to me watching Dark Angel on the "Si Asi" channel every evening for the last week (And luckily it's in English, or I might have tried to watch it in Spanish anyway, despite my lack of understanding of the language).
The final blow came when I bought a copy of TV guide for the first time in my life since Nickelodeon stopped being a draw, and found (besides the "40 hottest TV peoples", which is why I bought the magazine in the first place) that the SciFi channel is showing a marathon of Dark Angel starting tomorrow at 8AM. And hence, I am entirely hooked.
Consequently, if you want to find me tomorrow, I will be up before 8AM ready for the 8AM beginning of an eight hours Dark Angel marathon, during which time I will most likely be glued to the TV set.
