So today for Ghosts that Haunt Us, we had to come in with a "Culture Chest" representing our cultural identity. We had to bring in three things that represented us in certain dimensions. And it got me to thinking, if I could distill myself into only a few objects, what would they be?
1.) My glasses. They are so much a part of me that I don't even notice them anymore. I never wear contacts. My face would feel strange without their familiar weight.
2.) My copy of the first Harry Potter book. Aside from representing my bookishness in general, it's one of my favorites. Plus, I am so often compared to Hermione that my homie gots ta get a shout-out. Rock on, sister.
3.) The ring I got on my thirteenth birthday. It's the only piece of jewellery that I wore regularly, and I remember my mom telling me that she thought it was unique, like me.
Shut up, it was cute for her to say. And it made me feel special. Which I am.
And besides, after I made Anthony crawl under the porch to rescue it for me (twice. Yeah) I figure it damn well BETTER have some significance. :)
4.) My first season of House aka God in a Box. Because I want to be a doctor.
And have sex with House.
Or Chase.
Or both.
I'm not picky.
5.) My sandollar bracelet. I love the beach and when I'm home I walk there every day. I miss it. Fuck Amehrst and it's beachlessness. You bitches.
6.) A sneaker, both for my love of walking and my love of shoes in general. There was a reason I thought my name was Imelda* for the first ten years of my life.
and
7.) My iPod. I wear it all of the time, and it represents my love of quiet/being by myself (being able to block people out) and my love of music.
So that's me. Me in seven objects. I can be that simplified. Which is both scary and-no. Just scary.
But kinda interesting.
Well, I'm done with contemplating for the night.
Or at least, subjecting others to my ramblings.
Now I have to do American Studies homework.
Stupid.
Do I care what a bunch of dead people have to say about 1700's Charleston?
No I do not.
The end.
