I just posted the following update on Facebook: ‘Past 20 months in a nutshell: 280000 words written, several rounds of editing and proofs, 1 book launch, 1 convention, 1 round of chickenpox, 3 rounds of flu, 1 new website, tendonitis.’
I thought that summed up my experience over the last two years of writing the second and third book in the Chronicles of the Tree series, as well as proofreading the first book, launching it, editing and proofreading the second, preparing to launch that, and last (but not least) being the mother of a four-year-old…
But I was wrong. I left out a very important factor in the above equation. As someone pointed out on FB: ‘You must have a wonderful wife.”
By gum, I do! This post is a celebration of the man who makes it all possible: Frank Victoria, my partner in every sense of the word. We live together, work together, and sometimes I even let him sit next to me on the bus.
Seriously… Writing is a somewhat fiscally precarious business, as we all know; it’s also an engrossing one, leaving little time for anything else when the deadlines loom. My husband was there for me in this endeavor, all the way. Without him, there would be no Chronicles of the Tree. There would be no Mary Victoria, author. There would be no 280,000 words, no conventions, no nothing.
So put your hands together for the man who makes it all happen!
To the tune of ‘Ghostbusters’, please:
If you need to write
yet another book
Who ya gonna call?
THE HUSBAND
If you need some art
and it must look good
Who ya gonna call?
THE HUSBAND
I can’t make it alone
I can’t make it alone
If your tendonitis
drives you round the bend
Who can ya call?
THE HUSBAND
An invisible man
sleeping in your bed (ahem)
Who ya gonna call?
THE HUSBAND
If ya all alone
pick up the phone
and call
THE HUSBAND
