So here's the deal.
If you love someone, you would not want to get into a relationship that is not going to last.
High school dating relationships rarely last.
Therefore, high school datings rarely consist of love.
So just shut up about it! No, you don't love him. No, you don't love her. You may have very strong feelings, but what are feelings? Are the feelings you call love any more reliable than the feeling you call hunch? No.
So why go about chasing after people who spend day and night glopping gel on their hair and caking makeup on their faces? Why, why do you go chasing after someone who you will never catch? Why, when you finally catch one, would you begin to ignore everybody else, as if this one, who isn't going to last long, is the only one that matters? What will you do when the one you caught decides it's all over? Fall back on the friends you've ignored the whole time? What do they owe you?
Why can't you just have fun, live life, not strap yourself down to one person?
You never know whom you might be hurting. You never know what kind of strain you place on a friendship. You never know how many friendships you've ruined. You never know how many tears you've cajoled. You never know what kind of hopes you've shattered.
It's because you think only of yourself. Yourself and catching the one you want--for yourself. You don't think about the friends who miss you. You don't think about the friends who want you around. You don't think about anyone else...
They say love is blind. This isn't love, but you are definitely blind.
Take a deep breath and smack yourself in the face. It will do you some good.
Oh, and by the way? Yes, this is aimed at a specific person. And I'm not alone. Someone else agrees with me. At least one other person. Likely more; I haven't had a chance to talk to anybody else about it yet.
Sigh... I'm gonna go read something depressing. Poe? Anything but Tarr and Fether... no, perhaps Hemmingway, simply out of spite.
