I have 2 kids and I know how uncooperative they can be. I can mostly manage them, but sometimes it takes my husband and I to really get them to work and do what we want. Anyone who has kids should understand this. Even if you are just an Aunt & Uncle who pinch hit for a special night out you can see how handling kids can be tricky.
So what I want to know is WHY would anyone give Teachers grief about handling kids? Do adults always sit down, be quiet & do their work? Then WHY would anyone assume kids are going to sit down, be quiet & do their work? WHY would anyone assume a single Teacher can successfully manage 20, 30 or 40 kids? Especially with some to the boring subjects we make them teach. Most workers know a single person that really sucks at their job, but most people are average, good or even great. The same goes for every profession.
The overcrowding problem had already started back when I was in school. I still remember not learning a single thing in my High School math class because my poor Teacher was literally swarmed by too many teens. 42 hormonal teens could give anyone a nervous breakdown.
So WHY does it sound like the News media is attacking Teachers as a whole? We could not possibly be paying Teachers enough! Far too many buy supplies with their own paychecks. 30 Preschoolers should be different than 30 Junior High kids, but they are not as far apart as we pretend they are. Maybe its just Faux News & the Republicans? I do not want to paint the Republicans with the same broad stroke brush they seem to be using on the Teachers or Unions, but I have yet to hear them cry out against many of the things their Party is pushing. Bad things always happen when good people stand around and do nothing to stop it.
deserve better,
teachers
