The murders at Va Tech are so numbing ... it reminds me of the murders in Canada at the engineering school. I am so hoping it wasn't directed primarily at women, although at this point with over 30 dead and another 30 injured it no longer matters what his motivation was -- it is still just so horrific to comprehend ( Read more... )

I hadn't even seen the news. Thanks for posting this. My cousin is a VT grad who lived in that dorm. I just called her and she was a bit freaked out.

Numb. Yes. Thank you. That's how I feel. A friend has a son there - I'm numb till I hear.

I've been feeling more and more the fear and pain from around the world, in all the horror spots - Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Gaza, Lebanon, etc. and feeling how removed from it we usually are. Not today.

The kids at the school could be my kids. The kids at the war could be my kids as well. Binah leans close to me today.

This wasn't directed solely at women, it was about insanity. It was about shooting anything that moved. It was about planning the whole ordeal, and buying supplies and carrying out a horrible plan. It was about being insane enough to put a gun to his face and obliterate it from existance. These were the acts of a profoundly disturbed mind. A 23 year old soon-to-be-graduating english major with the face of a little boy.

I have alternated between numbness and tears.I read the profiles of the victims and I cry.
