I think only one of the awesome ladies on my flist is a mom (Deni, I'm lookin' at you, fabulousness).
So, to you, Deni, and any other moms who, for whatever reason, stumble across this:
Happy Mother's Day
I'm not a mom, so I can't claim to know what it's like in the slightest to carry and raise a child (or children), but I can look at my mom and say I'm so glad to have had her as a mother. She's been my best friend, my worst enemy (ahhh, the dichotomy of the teenaged years), the one who refuses to accept "I can't," (sometimes with gentle words of encouragement and sometimes with screams of "YES YOU CAN AND YOU WILLi SO GET UP AND WALK AGAIN DAMMIT") and who has been through so much shit in her life and claims she only made it through because of her children (she's had cancer four times in seventeen years, y'all, and the second time, she was given six months to live. That was about twelve years ago; the other day she told me that we (my brother, sister, and me, were the only reasons she made it). And that's not even the tip of the iceberg, folks. (But I have no right to tell her story. It was told to me in confidence; I won't betray that trust.) I love this woman so much it's ridiculous.
And later today, we have a picnic for all da moms at my grandparents'. Funfun. :D
