This weekend was pretty busy. I didn't get home from work on Friday until 8:00. My Vitamin K1 instrument crapped out and every time I'd fix one thing another part would blow. I felt like I'd rebuilt the whole instrument by the time I left. But it appeared to be running so I had done as much as I could when I escaped.
Chuck didn't come home Friday, but went camping in the Uwharrie National Park. He took his hammock and had to look pretty hard to find a place late on Friday. Every time he's find a spot, it would be an "Off road vehicle area" or "Horse riding area". He finally found a place that would do before it got too dark to see. It got down in the 30s and he ended up sleeping in the car. He had all day Saturday to look around and found a place to use when the days are longer and nights not as cold. He hiked around and had his dinner there. He came back to W-S to sleep Saturday night as it got dark.
Saturday morning, I got up and packed to visit Ann in Charlotte. Elliott flew out that morning to go to his HS reunion, so it was just the 2 of us. Their condo is in the old part of downtown that is very pretty with old houses with all kinds of personality in the architecture and gardens. Their building was built in 1930 and has original fixtures. The roof has been made into a lovely sitting area with plants in pots and a gorgeous view of the skyline. Ann and I went to Ikea (she had never been before) and then wandered around downtown and had dinner at a very good seafood restaurant.
I learned that there is no difference in oysters except the location you find them and the shape of the shells. They all taste the same. They had 4 different kinds on the menu and you could get a sampler of one of each on the half shell.
Sunday, I drove to Asheville to meet Chuck at my parents' apartment. I stopped by my sister's house to drop off a boom box for Sawyer. I gave them the unnecessary school supplies Wild Child had found in his room and returned Gary's climbing shoes. He said he hasn't been climbing for years but that if he had them, he was more likely to do it than if he didn't. I also took Sawyer The Colour of Magic on CDs. If he likes it, I can burn more of the DiscWorld books for him to listen to. He was so excited to have his own boom box. Forrest has one, but Sawyer had to listen to other peoples choices. When asked what kind of music he likes, he said "Rock and roll". I think I'll send him a mix CD to see what he likes best.
Chuck and I went to see the Playing for Change Band at the Orange Peel (

I went to work from W-S. Sophie was sooooooooooo glad to see me. She'd been cookie-less for nearly 4 days. After this, everything will be back to "business as usual" until the week of Thanksgiving.
