He's shoving the last of the boxes of his stuff into the Bullet Room when a box labeled in Jinx's handwriting catches his attention. Curious, and sure that Mary has no idea it is even in the closet, Marshall kneels down and slices through the dry tape with the pocketknife he keeps on his key chain. Inside are two children's coats - one pink, one gray. One toddler sized and one meant for a child no more than seven or eight ( ... )

So bittersweet. I love young Mary having to be so strong, even though it's so sad. Very lovely.

"C'mon, Marshall. Keep up." Brandi pointed the gun towards him as she gestured for emphasis.

"Whoa, whoa! Take it easy there." He held his hands up placatingly. "Listen, I don't think I'm really the man for the job here, Brandi."

She snorted, advancing slowly. "I think you're wrong."

"What about..." He swallowed nervously as she backed him towards the corner. "What about Peter?"

"Peter? Marshall, my fiance is many, many positive things. But I know his limitations. Marshall, he wears pleated pants. His current glassware in a set of mason jars with handles. Your apartment looks like it belongs in Architectural Digest. I got the right man for the job." She consulted her list again and gestured towards the shelf behind him. "Now, you really think I need to register for a rice cooker? Doesn't it come in boil-in bags?"

He patted her gently on the head once. "Pull the trigger, Brandi."

Too much fun! I can just see Brandi kidnapping Marshall for this. I wonder what Mary would think about the whole thing.

Hmm, I wonder (AU of course) what Mary would think/do if she thought Marshall was going to start dating Brandi.
