He's shoving the last of the boxes of his stuff into the Bullet Room when a box labeled in Jinx's handwriting catches his attention. Curious, and sure that Mary has no idea it is even in the closet, Marshall kneels down and slices through the dry tape with the pocketknife he keeps on his key chain. Inside are two children's coats - one pink, one gray. One toddler sized and one meant for a child no more than seven or eight ( ... )

So bittersweet. I love young Mary having to be so strong, even though it's so sad. Very lovely.

“Marshall, what are you wearing?” Her partner had shed his blazer and was standing in front of her in a navy blue ski jacket. He looked ridiculous. More ridiculous than normal.

Marshall looked down at himself and then up at his partner quizzically. “Clothes?”

“It’s a winter coat. Marshall, it must be ninety-five degrees outside.”

He shrugged. “But it’s not ninety-five degrees in here.”

“Ok, what’s the secret?”

“No secret. I’m going on vacation. There was an early season snowstorm in Steamboat Springs, and I got a great deal on a last minute get away.”

“And so you’re breaking in your ski jacket in the office?”

He grinned at her. “Something like that.”

“So, were you going to tell me you were just going to leave a post it note that said, back in a week? Mary crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back against her desk ( ... )
