Hmm. There're a little complicated than what I'm used to, being an icon beginner, but I'm definitely going to still give it a shot! I also *love* the fact that you gave us samples of what you're looking for!!
I have faith that you'll do great! And if you need it, here is a masterlist of really good tutorials by really good makers, and there's always ask the maker, which is full of inspiration (check out the masterlists to get a comprehensive list). Also, if you need EVEN MORE inspiration, try iconpraise. There's so much pretty!
I'm always free to chat if you have questions too :)
As you're so gracious as to offer, I do have a question. I posed it already to another icon tutorial comm (thanks for the links to these), but no one was really able to give me a concrete answer. Another of my 20in20 comms has a light spots challenge. What do you think they mean by that?
Which 20in20 is it? I'd be more than happy to pop in and see if I can figure out what they mean (I think I know but I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction or anything) :)
Well, this is going to be a guess since it's hard to tell sometimes when people don't include examples (grrrrr), but I would imagine it to be spots in the icon that are much lighter than the rest, or are maybe completely white. Like these:

I so appreciate the help!
I'm feeling better about the challenges, too. I've already gotten two done and am learning new skills in Pixlr! :-)
