The Shroud is not the greatest of mystics, but he's well versed. The Cult of Kali saw to that, and his research since has only increased his knowledge of the lore. Aside from that, he knows of many others who stalk the night. they are the ones who can help him now. Much as Hawkeye is occasionally useful, he's not well suited to this type of threat.
