The part of the floor the two boys were standing on raised itself up to the hole in the ceiling above it. Once it was the top, the boys could see several giant rodents! Each holding a huge mallet, one of which was about to be slammed down on them!

The urge to gawk was powerful, but it was offset by the need to move in order to not get flattened.

"This guy is fucking insane!"

"Neither are we!"

For once, they weren't arguing, which made the whole "cooperating" thing a lot easier. Which is good, because moving from platform to platform while dodging giant mallets wasn't easy.

Well, it helped Nate from not being flattened. So there's that.

"Wait!" Not that they could afford to sit still long, but they had to time the jump right. Unlike certain italian plumbers, they couldn't survive a 25 foot drop without breaking their legs.

So it was a small matter of waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait, "Now!"

And their vicious opponents in this section of the gauntlet were....

Nate just blinked a few times.

"...Maybe it's a 20th century thing, but I don't remember any carnival games that involved unicorns that were high on weed."

And there was the exit... right over there.

The unicorns moved to block their way.

"Nooooooooooooo!"

"Nooooooooooooo!"

"You can't leeeeeeave!"

"Yeah, you can't leave! Staaaaaay!"

"We're gonna have fun!"

"We're gonna play games!"

"And if you try to leave--" The unicorns eyes both turned bright red, and their horns started spinning, "--then we're gonna eat your kidneys!"

"And your livers!"

Yeah, Nate was moving, and barreled into one of the unicorns to get them out of the way.

"As soon as we get out hands on this guy, I am going to kill him."

They must be bonding. Danny was officially no longer the person he most wanted to kill at that very moment.
