Stupidity is no excuse

Cassie was making progress in physical therapy. She could keep moving for half an hour now and the days of not making it down the hall were long over. There was still a long way to go but she could see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel

He was still facepalming at her.

"...and what made you think that that was a good idea, again?"

She could so easily turn that question around at him. But she didn't, because really, he was right.

"I kind of wasn't thinking. Or I was thinking that a guy was getting mugged and somebody had to be a good Samaritan and uh... Yeah. It was really stupid."

He sighed a little, and took her hand in his own.

"Look, I know your heart was in the right place... but, yeah, it was stupid," he said, smiling at her.

Cassie squeezed Nate's hand.

"Well if I do it about a zillion more times I guess we're even."

"Oh, come on now. It's only a million more, really..."

[magnetlips]

"No, it's a zillion. I have it all written down somewhere."

He kissed the back of her hand.

"Don't be in such a hurry to catch up. Remember, I'm a professional at this Doing Stupid Stuff thing."

"Well, yeah, don't tell the others but I've got a track record too."

Getting absorbed by an android still beat this one.

"But if you stop then I'll stop." She was teasing but it was also a friendly reminder: don't go kanging it up again.
