Sweet Sixteen
Something just wasn't right with Cassie.
She had had open heart surgery two months ago, could barely walk out the door, had been caught with her future super villain boyfriend and consequently banned from seeing him, been grounded, and had spent yesterday at her mother and step-dad's, who she hated.
Cassie should be spending her birthday mildly happy at expected gifts and people visiting, but sulking like she did all day.
Instead she was humming as she made carrot cake (only she couldn't find any carrots so she was using beets).
