Of course, leaving is easier said than done, since right outside the alley it seems as if half the NYPD has gathered by now. There are a lot of cops, all with some serious artillery, all aimed at them.

Why didn't they notice this? Possibly because the spell of a certain mutant magician didn't go quite as planned. Instead of the cops not noticing them, they didn't notice the cops.

"HANDS UP! ALL OF YOU!"

Julian blinked when confronted with the sight of all the cops. Julian can be self absorbed, but even he would've noticed this sooner.

But after having a second to assess the situation, his surprised expression changed into a grin, and he started laughing. This was going to be too good. Between fits of laughter, he managed to get out one command to his team.

"Hold... positions."

Someone up there must love him madly.

Aww, damn! He rolls his eyes at the cops, with a flippant side look to Julian.

"Dude, throw the cranky cougar at them or something. I wanna see your brother's tv. Didn't know they came in 80 in." Man, he hoped there was some food there too.

His laughter was reined into a fit of chuckles.

"Relax, dude. We're not gonna bother starting a fight with the cops. We'll be out of here in a few, anyway. I just want to watch this first." He paused, "You know, if I order the food now, it should be there by the time we arrive."

Julian pulled out his cell phone, a move which made a few of the cops twitchy, but none of them fired. "Yeah, I'd like to place an order for delivery..."

Ang tries to edge around Danny.

Oh look, cops. Scary cops. Like he's seen in movies.

Ang raises his hands above his head and chimes, "Don't shoot! Not guilty!"

Julian was not ordering a pizza. He was ordering several pizzas, actually. Along with buffalo wings, garlic bread, soda, salad, chips, a couple of hogies... enough food to feed an army, or at least one hungry Santo.

He hung up the phone and looked back at the YA with a smirk. His eyes fixed on Kate for a moment.

"This feel familiar to you, Princess?"

She shoots Julian a dirty look as she moves up to Patriot. That spot between her shoulder blades is starting to scream an aria, but she's continuing to ignore it for now, especially with their present situation.

"Now would be a good time to pull out those brilliant ideas I know you have floating around in your grey matter."

His grin grew ever wider. She'd know what that smirk meant, they've been through this dance twice before already. She wants his help? She knows his price.

Just one little word.

And Eli was running out of time to say it.

"Your leader wanted us gone, and we did what we came her to do anyway. We have no reason to stay."

A TK bubble formed around the New X-Men, and Julian began to lift his team to safety.

"See ya."

"Hold it," one of the officers orders. "You're not going anywhere, mutie." He glances over at Stature. "No one's going anywhere."

Cassie took one look at Blake and pressed her hand to her face. Not only was her step father there, but he had to use a racial (did mutants count as racial?) slur.

"That," She said rather quietly, standing next to Danny. "Is my step dad."

Cassie squeezed Danny's hand. "I told you."

Hopefully they'd all get out of this intact.

Or at least alive.
