A monk. In Manhattan.
A twelve year old orphan mutant monk. In Manhattan. That may or may not be linked with the Young Avengers.
The hell?Julian was having a hard time trying to wrap his mind around this. And around the fact that he was apparently supposed to find the kid and bring him back to the school. At least, that's what he thought Miss

"I got it! I got it! I -"
A sudden, sharp wind blows through the trees, strong enough to divert the baseball flying through the air on its path, so that it lands in the palm of the glove held by the small boy with the shaved head, orange robes, and shiny new Doc Martins.
Uh - it COULD have been a coincidence!

...and someone wanted to take a picture with Cess. He didn't know whether to be amused of jealous. He settled for mostly amused with a hint of jealous.
"C'mon, Mercury, pose for the people! As a matter of fact, I'll even hold the camera."
And, not surprisingly, the camera was handed over him. Tourists, he couldn't help but smirk. But, then again, they were right outside Washington Square Park, which attracted its fair share of tourists.
He lined up for the shot, when a fleck of orange in the background caught his attention, and he zoomed in on it for a moment. And found exactly who they had been searching for.
"...ok, we'll have to make this quick. We have lives to save, and stuff. Ready?"

"Tourists," Cessily commented with a smile as she followed Julian towards Ang. If she had been able to blush, she would have been.
"Uh, hey there!" she called out to the boy, trying to sound as friendly as possible. "Oh, and Julian? Be nice to him." she added in a whisper.

"Come on, throw it back!" yells one of the kids he's playing with - or starts to, because the sight of a silver-skinned girl in a superhero uniform leaves him kind of speechless.
Ang tosses the baseball over his shoulder and runs towards them, picking up speed, until he's going just a little faster than even a speedy little boy should be able to go. When he stops in front of them, a gust of wind blows up from behind him, very strong, but dispersing quickly. Nevertheless, he stumbles slightly and windmills his arms to maintain his balance.
"You're special too!" he yells, pointing at Cessily with an ecstatic grin.

Could this kid be any more adorable? She kind of already wants to take him home and buy him a puppy.

"I am Ang," he says. "I make wind. Do you know Danny? Danny is special too, but he say not to show it or people will not like me." He looks up at Cessily's face, still fascinated, eyes wide with wonder. "How you hide your gift?"
Reply
"She doesn't, and honestly, she shouldn't have to. Neither should you."

"My gift makes me look different, so I can't hide it," she tells Ang. "And what Julian means is that if the world were a better place, no one would have to keep their powers secret. But sometimes it isn't safe to tell everyone." She shoots Julian a quick look.
"Have you ever been to school, Ang?" she asks him, continuing to try to entertain him with some of the simple forms her hands can take.

"Danny says I should go to school. I don't know if I will, though. I might not like it."
Even now, he speaks with the air of one who is in control of his future. "Truant officer" still means nothing to the little monk.
"I learned from the monks when I lived in the monastery in Tibet."
Reply
"Well, you want to learn more about your gift, don't you?"

"They give us rooms to sleep in and food to eat, and we get to learn how to use our powers. Would you be interested in something like that, Ang?"

He looks thoughtful for a few minutes.
"I have to ask Danny first."

A brief thought of Sofia flashed through his mind at that. He stopped himself from wondering where she was and what she was up to, though, electing to focus on the task at hand.
"And while you can ask 'Danny' first," though Julian already didn't trust whomever this Danny was, "the decision is entirely yours to make, squirt. And if you ever decide our school isn't the place isn't for you, we'll help you find somewhere else you want to be."

Note the I used there.
