shinysylver and I want to thank everyone who participated in this year's marvel_bang challenge. It took a lot of hard work from all of our authors, accompanying fanworkers, and betas, and we certainly hit some bumps along the way, but we think it all turned out wonderfully :)

Instead Darcy finds herself fighting aliens, making new and terrifying friends and adding a whole lot more embarrassing moments to the list of things that will be trotted out in toasts at her wedding or funeral (whichever comes first). Somehow, she still feels sorrier for herself than the aliens; at least the aliens will be allowed a graceful exit. She'll be stuck on the same planet as the morons who are making her life so scary.
She also appears to be the only one not getting laid, which proves that whatever Gods are out there, they hate her.

When they go to high school, they end up falling in with Thor, Bruce, Steve, and Tony, four teenagers who may or may not be just as messed up as they are.
But even though the past is past, Natasha's is especially dark, and her mind can't quite let it go. There are some things that she's experienced and, more importantly, some lessons that she's learned, that continue to haunt her. Caring for people is dangerous, trusting them even more dangerous, and as it becomes impossible for her to detach completely, she has to wonder if she's doing the right thing, getting close to other people, or whether she should just leave and spare herself and everybody else some pain. She could take a chance, and see how it turns out, or not take one at all, and live her life alone and unencumbered by other people.
In the end, it really all boils down to one question. What does Natasha Romanoff want to be when she grows up?

But on the bill with The Avengers on their big night is Spies Become Soldiers, formed by Williamsburg vets Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton, who wanted to take their music in a new direction. They've only been playing together a few months, but they've already got a lot of buzz surrounding them, and the songs to back it up.
So Fury sends them both out on tour, an extended battle of the bands for the one remaining slot in a SHIELD showcase at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin. Which band will end up with the spotlight and record deal? Will they kill each other trying to get there, or be too distracted by romance to bother with fighting? Or is it really all about the music, man?
