Title: Prayer of A Tragic Queen.
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Some Angstage.
Pairings: Implied Sentinel Prime x Ariel, past Sentinel Prime x Sunstorm, past Orion x Ariel.
Characters: Sentinel Prime, Ariel, Elita One.
Summary: AU - Partly using Dreamwave's comics as basis. A re imagination of Cybertron's society where the line dividing slaves from nobles is so thin.
Notes: This is mainly just a short snippet to mess with one of the many fraggin' pairings in this thing and get the juices flowing back for Imperium Cybertronium. That and Elita was glaring at me for some screen time. And yes, in case you're wondering (and even if you're not) I am considering Ariel and Orion completely different characters from Elita One and Optimus Prime.
"What you're doing is not right." It was a calm and pleasant voice that broke the heavy silence of his rooms. Sentinel Prime didn't need to turn around to know his sister stood just a few steps from his door, giving him that concerned but disapproving glance she used to address at him when they were sparklings.
"I am doing my duty to my people, Elita," He murmured his reply as his optics swept through the sight of the city below his balcony.
"You'll dishonor her." Elita stepped forward standing just a step behind her brother as propriety dictated. "And you'll only bring unhappiness to yourself in the process."
"I assure you I have no intention to tarnish her honor or bring unhappiness into her life, I do love her."
"Settling for second best is a mistake, Sentinel."
"She's not second best." Sentinel looked back at his sister. "My feelings for her are genuine, Elita, she's the one I wish to create my heirs with."
The pink and red colored femme rested her hand on her brother's shoulder, her stern optics looked into Sentinel Prime's, trying to decipher what thoughts crossed his processors. "You courted Ariel because Sunstorm was forced to take on his clerical duties."
The Cybertronian ruler raised his hand to silence his sister, looking away from the scrutinizing gaze. "Do not bring the High Priest into this, sister, you know nothing will ever come from that."
"But if Sunstorm hadn't been forced to take his sire's mantle, would Ariel still be your chosen one? Would she still be your consort to be?
"I cannot answer that question truthfully, Elita." Sentinel Prime turned to face his sister, retracting his mask as he held her shoulders and pressed a chaste kiss to her forehead. "I understand your concerns, but I assure you that my feelings for Ariel are true. I love her and I want her as my mate by union. I cherished my time with Sunstorm, but that time is over."
Elita One nodded begrudgingly, wrapping her arms around her brother in a hug and retired. She knew deep within her spark that her brother's love for the High Priest had been great during the time they spent together, and she was certain those feelings weren't entirely gone, if at all.

"You're being harsh with him," Ariel spoke softly sorting through the many armor plates splayed over her lavish berth. "It's not easy to let go of a past love."
"You know he still loves Sunstorm." Elita One helped her friend to arrange the pieces neatly, categorizing them with great care to have them polished in preparation for her upcoming union.
Ariel nodded. "I do, just as he knows I still love Orion."
Elita One heaved a long sigh. She knew of the tragic loss of her dear friend, Ariel, whose betrothed, Orion, perished in an accident. She brought her friend to Iacon with the hope to help her through her sorrow, which led over time to her brother, Sentinel Prime to court her and finally propose to her.
Ariel smiled to her friend, gripping her arm gently in reassurance. "I'm not a replacement for Sunstorm, Elita. We know of our losses, we understand and accept them, but now we have a life together ahead of us. We want the chance to experience it."
"You might be right, and you really are the one meant for my brother, Ariel." Elita turned a serious, calculating glance at the smaller femme, "But tell me, is Sentinel a substitute for Orion?"
Ariel looked away, unable to meet those blue optics that seemed to know so much, that seemed to know her better than herself. "He's gone, Elita. I do love Sentinel, even if I'll admit I'll never feel for him as I felt for Orion."
"Is he a substitute for Orion?"
"I don't know." Ariel moved away a piece of armor, sitting down on her berth, heaving a broken sigh. "Something within my spark tells me this is the right thing to do, for better or for worse."
Elita One shifted closer to her friend on the berth, uncaring of the armor pieces she brushed aside with her legs as she wrapped her arms around Ariel. "I truly hope this union is the right thing for you both, I'd hate to see you two suffering in silence."
"I'm sure it'll be all right in the end, my dear friend." Ariel leaned against Elita One, wrapping her arms back around her future sister through union. "It will be all right."
