re: epigenetics I've suspected as much for years, but never been able to properly articulate my thoughts. It falls under my general belief on the progression of science and knowledge:

If someone says, it exists, but "the boundaries are this"...then chances are high our ability to measure real boundaries aren't sophisticated enough to understand our previous location was overly narrow.

If someone says, it exists, and "we know all there is to know about it"...then chances are high we really only know what, say, a 1st grader would know, maybe a middle schooler, and there's still a LOT more to learn.

This is why I remain confident that eventually FTL will be found, it satisfies both above conditions. I can't tell you in what form it will take, just confident that at some point lighstpeed will be no more a notation than MACH.

In a way it's a very fun way to view the world. I used to despair because "the great age of exploration" was over and done, all the white space and far away reaches of "here there be dragons" had been filled in. And now I realize - hardly at all. =)
