In my P.E. class the other day, I found out that I'm a little less than 25% body fat.

:/

Doesn't bother me too much... still, I'd like to minimize that number.

Our teacher was talking about all the bad stuff that is in food now-a-days and how advertising and other gimmicks try to grab our attention so that we may purchase these things. And I couldn't help by wonder why. But there's two sides to my thoughts (as there always are for me):

1. Why are we making unhealthy things for people to consume? Can you really sit back, make a product, and watch someone eat it, totally knowing that it isn't good for them? And it isn't just the unhealthy things-- all the organic stuff? Waay expensive. Why? 'Cause CEOs know that when people are running from the unhealthy to the healthy, they'll shell out some money. Why are we trying to take advantage of people? How come business makers only have money on the brain and not, oh, I don't know, the customer's well being on their minds?

...then again...

2. Why are we, as consumers, giving into this junk? Sure, these greedy money-making mongrels are sucking us in with their "LOW CARB!" and "FAT FREE!" ads, but here's the thing: We don't have to buy it. In the end, it all marks up to personal choice. All that hoopla about suing McDonald's because it made you fat? YOU BOUGHT IT. It's not as if 'ol Ronald McDonald marched up to your house and put a big 'ol Desert Eagle (clown edition) to your head and shoved a Big Mac and ten Chicken Selects down your mouth. Bottom line: You chose to eat it. Could you imagine if enough people stopped eating McDonald's (or all fast food, for that matter) how quickly that fat factory would sink?

...Sometimes I dislike the duality in my mind. Makes it hard to find a stable opinion and go with it.

I hope to lose some of that body fat over the next five weeks... yet I don't think it'll be easy, seeing as how as I finish this entry, I'm licking the ranch sauce from the bottom of a plate that used to be stacked with french fries and mozzarella cheese.

Baby steps, baby steps...
