I have never in my life contributed to any political candidate, so today I surprised myself by making a contribution to the campaign of Barack Obama.  I realize people have different opinions for very good reasons, and I am perfectly fine with that.

In my case, I view this person as different than the run-of-the-mill politician.  He has the capacity ( Read more... )

Oh yay! I really like Obama because of pretty much everything you said. He also seems to be getting a lot of young people involved which is nice to see in my eyes. (Even if he's making them mad, he's still getting them involved unlike almost any other candidate I've seen.)

That is nice! My experience in my lifetime has been that most of the Presidential candidates have been *yawn* not very inspiring.

So here's hoping! :)

He does seem out of the ordinary, I agree:) It must be frightening to inspire so much hope, in a way. People do so want to see deep and fundamental change, and he personifies such a diverse range of aspiration.. it's a great responsibility. I just hope it's not too much for one pair of shoulders:)

No-one has ever caused me to want to contribute to their campaign. I'm rather envious, you know!

It is so easy to be mundane, it seems, as a politician. I think in my case I am so tired as an American because of Bush, of all the ways he is making Americans not be Americans, that I probably need a bigger dose of hope than I would under ordinary circumstances! :)

Good for you! I've got a friend who is totally behind Obama--has been from the start. I'm still on the fence...there are things I like about both the dem's.

Let's hope the best person--for the country & the world-- wins!

I am concerned that whatever Democrat wins the primary season, there will be a risk of alienating the followers of the other. So it will be interesting to see how that all works out. A bit of political theater, for sure! I feel like I am in the audience of a play and do not really know how things are to be worked out!

That speech was so amazing and inspiring, I can't blame you!

It impressed me as being above and beyond the ordinary political speech, and I believe it will be long remembered. The guy is so very smart, and poised, and human at the same time, standing up for what he believes in and not "throwing under the bus" what he believes in just for the sake of political expediency.

Of course, that is a lot to live up to! But I have not seen any big mistakes in my opinion, and I am watching! ;)
