Bragging Rights

I have known of people who go away to their first semester of college and go nuts and wild, and end up flunking out or just barely passing  I guess freedom can be a powerful drug for those who feel they need to express themselves so, with their first real chance to make independent choices....

That being said, please pardon me if I "crow" a bit about my daughter, Kat!  She arrived home a couple of weeks ago and I see a new maturity and grownup-ness about her, which is fantastic!  Whether it be in such things as doing the dishes, emptying the dishwasher, or helping Sally and Lizzy do the Christmas baking, taking Lizzy to Manhattan to have tea at a hotel for her birthday because both Sally and I have to work, or providing good advice or diffusing a tense moment between Sally and me that could have escalated but did not!

And on top of that, Kat received three "A's" and one "A -" for her first semester grades!  The A - ironically was in her French class (which she is majoring in).  Kat told me the professor was so disorganized that she felt she did not learn anything new and sort of joked that her knowledge of French was less at the end of the semester than it was going in!

The "good" news I suppose is that the professor has been fired and will not return next academic year, and I guess a bad professor here and there is to be expected....although now that Kat can find out ahead of time from her school-mates how a professor is viewed before she signs up for a class, hopefully the chances of this happening again will be rare!
