McGill, or Not?

Kat came back from her visit to McGill and Montreal yesterday evening, and her trip was a partial success.  The McGill French professor that she had made arrangements to talk with got the day mixed up, and so was not able to meet with her.  However the professor did tell Kat to call her should she wish, which I think would work out OK.

Kat likes Montreal, but said that McGill was very different than Goucher College, which seems to make sense since Goucher is but a small fraction of the size of McGill, and represents what a small college would offer as opposed to a large university.  Kat liked the diversity of McGill, however, and is proceeding with her application.

She said though that she does miss Goucher and is making more friends there.  She wants to have the second semester experience before she decides if she will transfer to McGill.  And she has some time to decide for sure.  Seems like a wise strategy!

Kat is thinking of ways to quickly get her French major at Goucher satisfied so that she can spend a year abroad in a francophone country.  A big problem she has with Goucher is the lack of quality within their French department, so she is thinking perhaps she can get a better French experience abroad.

I agree with her that another semester will help her resolve these issues better, and allow her to be more comfortable with the decision she ultimately makes.

And of course as a parent, I am thrilled to pieces in how she is approaching these decisions!  :)
