see how fast the summer passes by

Yesterday, my mom and I wandered around the Croft Farm Nature Trail right here in Cherry Hill. It was almost completely empty (even on a Saturday? what a boon)-- we encountered one couple hiking in the opposite direction, but that's it. At one entrance to the trail, the original Croft Farm House still stands, complete with barns, outbuildings, and closed-up well. SEVEN DAYS...

Here's an outbuilding near the water:

The entrance to the trail itself

I saw a lot of awesome tree bark carvings, especially in the beech trees because the bark is so smooth and pale

MOSS

Green leaves in sunlight. Only about a fourth of the trees I saw were showing autumn colors, so everything should be lovely shades of red, yellow, and orange by next weekend.

Leaves in shadow (I love the atmosphere of this photo)

More leaves wtf

A crick ran through the forest down to the main body of water

Tree trunks in silhouette

More moss

This green looks so fresh for October!

Tree grafiti #2

Tree grafiti #3. The photo doesn't show it, but this tree was huge @n@

I just want to live here

At one point, the trail opens up onto a giant meadow (mown for soccer, unfortunately, but still gorgeous). The meadow is bordered by dense woods, intermittently covered in vines like this:

We didn't go any further, but I look forward to seeing the rest of the trail ♥

I'm knee-deep in preparations for Halloween next weekend! I don't usually decorate the outside of the house, but I bought pumpkins and a few mums at a local farm, and then added some candy corn fairy lights; it's not the typical INTENSELY DECORATED HALLOWEEN HOUSE, but I like it. Here's what it looks like at night:
