On September 10-11th, I visited New York for the weekend to see some California friends who were visiting ♥ I got up early (though not as early as I planned) to wait in line for rush tickets to How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying with Julie, Sandy, and Dalin. After camping out in line for a few hours and chatting, we successfully got tickets! Here's Julie in front of the pillar with our tickets:
Then we wandered around Times Square a little, stopping by the information center:
There were a few Broadway show costumes on display, but this one from Into the Woods really struck my eye... inspiring *o*
Then we stopped by the Times Square Disney store
The castle on the second floor was awesome
Dalin showed us how to activate the magic mirrors inside :D
For lunch, we went to the Shake Shack, where I got a 'Shroom Burger, Cheese Fries, an Arnold Palmer, and some digits from a cute girl with braids~ haha Everything was delicious! I want to go back and try a corn dog...
I didn't get any photos from the rest of the day, but after lunch we went back to the Al Hirschfeld Theater to see the matinee showing of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which was great. There were some really funny moments, especially from John Larroquette and Christopher J. Hanke. I think Daniel Radcliffe did a good job! I wasn't expecting him to have such a good voice, so that was a nice surprise. I could tell he was really working hard on the dance numbers too (so much sweat). haha The rush ticket seats they gave us were in the far right box, which made it difficult for me to see the show. It's cool being so close to the actors, but the perspective on the stage was all askew so I switched seats to the center balcony and had a perfect view of the stage. XD
After the show was over, we met up with Melissa and Lauren and some others and visited Columbus Circle to get food at Bouchon Bakery. I had some delicious quiche:
While we were there, we saw Kelsey and visited the nearly-closed Borders to look for cheap books. Then a few of us split off to rest and get ready for
Disko Nouveaux.
I crimped my hair almost the biggest it's ever been, and wore GRAMM, Black Peace Now, and some Odd Fellows regalia, but didn't get any photos of the outfit. ;o; Everybody in our group of friends looked great! When we got to Le Poisson Rouge, we met up again with Julie and Stephanie and started dancing right away. The dancing was fun, and I had a good drink. XD Unfortunately, it was a pretty quiet night at Disko Nouveau... from looking at the photos on the website, I thought it was going to be a bigger event with a lot of fashion, but it was pretty empty in both respects. I still had a good time and I would try it again, but next time I would probably go more casual.
By the time we got back to Kelsey's place, it was we all went straight to bed because it was 4 or 5 in the morning. @n@; haha The next day, we all got ready to go to Rose House. I got a photo on the way to the train... is this a whole new level of creeping? Koda's creeping on Kelsey and Stephanie, but I'm creeping on her being a creeper~
Outfit shots in the subway! Here's Stephanie, wearing Angelic Pretty and I Do Declare:
Kelsey, wearing Perianth:
Miakoda, wearing Baby the Stars Shine Bright:
Stephanie looks like she belongs in a Rembrandt portrait ♥
Miakoda and Kelsey looking angelic on the train:
omg, you guys ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
.... all right, Koda, you've convinced me that circle lenses look good ♥ what's up with your faaaaaace, it's so gorgeous ♥
When we got to Rose House, we met with Petrina, Jen, the California girls, and everyone else. It was a large group, so they split us in two and put us on the couches. DX The couches are cool because they're by the fireplaces, but it's very difficult to eat there because there's only a low coffee table for the food. I saw that there were a lot of empty tables and booths around us, so I asked the hostess if we could switch to two of those. Unfortunately, this was the beginning of the end in terms of polite treatment by the staff DDX Maybe the hostess took offense to my question or resented it? Whatever her reason, she responded to my question pretty rudely by repeating her refusal over and over in the same terms, implying that our group couldn't afford to pay the minimum, and finally claiming that the other tables and booths-- all seven of them in our room alone-- had been reserved already. I've never been treated like this at Rose House before, so I was too surprised to do anything other than return to my seat. I guess the hostess was having a bad day. I was also served my tea last (it came at least 5-7 minutes after everyone else had gotten their tea, for no discernible reason) so the paranoid part of me said the servers brought it out last because they resented my question, but I suppose it was just a coincidence. haha ::sigh:: Here's one grainy photo of our little group:

My sandwich (which was delicious as usual):
I have mixed feelings about Rose House after this experience. This was my sixth visit, but every time before this was fine. Of course, there are a lot of tea rooms in the city, so it's not the end of the world if I don't return. XD
All in all, it was a lovely weekend! We did a lot of things, but it was the best seeing Julie, Melissa, Sandy, and Lauren again, along with all the regulars like Dalin, Kelsey, Bianca, Miakoda, Stephanie, Amelia (yayyy you're back!), Jen, and Petrina ♥ I hope you California girls get a chance to visit again soon!
