This past weekend, Koda, Petrina, Dalin, and I stayed at a bed & breakfast in Frenchtown, NJ called the
Widow McCrea House, so here are my pictures. We arrived Friday afternoon and settled into our PICTURESQUE COTTAGE LIFE.
the main house (the next two pictures were actually taken Saturday because there was no snow on the ground when we arrived Friday :3)
the cottage we stayed in was separate from the main house and had a private entrance

bed #1
bed #2 (sofa bed, that is... this is how the cottage sleeps four people)
fireplace!
bathroom, complete with jacuzzi
the kitchenette
it even had wooden beams in the ceiling
Friday night we had dinner at the Race Street Cafe in Frenchtown
I had the delicious Eggplant Rollettes with penne
After dinner, we drove to nearby New Hope, PA to go on the local ghost tour, but the tour guides never showed up. Instead we got coffee and wandered around a little.
from a certain angle, this tree looked like it was passionately gesticulating
the Valentine's Day window display for local vintage store Love Saves the Day are awesome, but this guy looks a little intimidating in the dark... like a wacky version of Paul Bettany from Legion
Then we went back to the cottage and watched League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, naturally. X3
On Saturday morning we woke up to almost a foot and a half of snow, which only made everything more picturesque
you can see my little Ford Focus in the foreground, covered in snow
the owners delivered breakfast to our cottage: spinach quiche, lemon poppyseed muffins, yogurt, orange juice, and fresh fruit

We ventured out to Peddler's Village, but all the shops were closed. Instead, we wandered around in the snow. It was a bit like Narnia. *o*
Lantern Waste!
Peter, Lucy, and Susan wonder if going back for Edmund is worth it. Does that make me Edmund? YES ::fist pumps::
always winter, never Christmas ;o; (I think that's a Captain Hook mug in the second row from the bottom btw)
There was one cafe open called Sweet Lorraine's so we stopped there to get warm. I had a "Peppermint Patty," which tastes exactly like it sounds.
We stopped in Minette's Candies in Frenchtown and I managed to snap one picture. The owner (who didn't look like a "Minette" to me) was a little uptight. e_e;;
Then we headed back to the cottage to enjoy the fireplace, chai, and some movies: Little Women, The Cat Returns, Ballet Shoes, and Anne of Green Gables.
On Sunday morning, we enjoyed a breakfast of baked apples, fresh fruit, cereal, apple muffins, and orange juice.

then we checked out of the bed and breakfast and headed back to New Hope, home of Weenie World

Kelsey, this one's for you
Marsha Brown's is a restaurant in a converted church. Koda and I swear we will return someday with more money and have the most elegant (and spiritual) dinner ever.

We ate Chinese food for lunch and I tried Egg Foo Young for the first time. It's basically a chinese frittata with gravy? Delicious.
Overall, I have to say the bed & breakfast experience was delightful. Driving along country roads listening to the Fleet Foxes in the car... you just can't beat it. ;o; I chose the Widow McCrea House because the idea of staying in a private cottage was too good to pass up, but I'm eager to try more places!
Here's my haul for the weekend:
giant dark green corduroy pants, the best $5 I've ever spent
antique bracelet
double-breasted vintage jsk
The material looks like moire, but it's actually a cotton blend with moire's distinctive wood grain pattern printed on it. @m@ I can't wait to wear it to work.
vintage slip
chocolate-covered graham crackers for my mom, chocolate mint sticks, vintage valentine's day cards
Alice in Wonderland card set
