Earlier in June, I experienced my artist alley debut at Animenext selling pieces from my fledgling brand,
Moss Märchen. Whether or not anime conventions are the best venue for my accessories remains to be seen, but I had a good time overall! Here are a few photos of the booth, my crafts, and a couple of customers:
I shared a table with Koda, Millie, and Stephanie, so space was tight! I used a few wire grid panels to create a vertical display, though, and covered it with a vintage lace tablecloth to make it seem less unitlitarian. I also hung a few straw bags on the edge of the table to conserve room. You can see my part of the table on the far left of this photo...
Some of the straw bags I decorated for sale:
The buttons, featuring Stephanie and Koda as Moss Märchen forest maidens:
Some little fur and faux fur collars:
Witch pens nestled into their own mossy nest display:
Poison Apple rings in black x cream:
Poison Apple necklace (credit cards accepted? yep *likeaboss*):
Here's another photo of the Poison Apple series together-- two rings and a necklace:
To create a business card display, I bought a vintage serving fork at an antique store and bent the tines forward and back to create a little stand. People seemed to think it was cute, especially since I have biscuit-themed business cards :33 The teacup of lemon drops was meant to lure hungry congoers over to the table, but I mostly used it to reward cosplayers for letting me take their photos...
I made a lot of brooches that double as hair accessories and pinned them to the vertical lace display rack-- thanks, Instagram. My three favorites are the creepy baby brooch pictured here...
... the cranberry glass one seen here:
... and the violin brooch pictured here:
I heard a lot of interesting ways to pronounce the word "brooch" during this convention XD In case anyone on my flist is unfamiliar with this term and wants an easy way to remember the pronunciation, "brooch" rhymes with "coach" even though the spelling seems to indicate it would rhyme with "pooch." People have actually tried to argue with me about it, even though
Merriam-Webster agrees with me. ::slowly and methodically tears out hair:: If all else fails, just call it a pin e_e;;; haha
Unfortunately, I didn't get many photos of people wearing the Moss Märchen merchandise they bought, but here's Rebecca wearing a castle brooch in her hair:
I like the lace she attached to the bottom!
And here's Bianca looking like a stone cold gothic fox in her Moss Märchen poison apple ring and necklace:
I think the jewelry goes well with her h.Naoto GRAMM dress ~
I'm happy to say that Z8, the designer of h.Naoto GRAMM, liked the Poison Apple ring I gave her and wore it during the convention weekend and later at the h.Naoto GRAMM event in San Francisco, as seen
in this post. I'll post more about meeting Z8 in the next entry ♥
The Moss Märchen webshop, blog, and Etsy store should be up and running sometime in July-- I wish it were up right now, but times are tough and I'm a busy girl. XD In the meantime, there's always the
facebook page if you want to keep updated on Moss Märchen news and photos.
