heat-struck afternoons

Last Saturday, Koda and I went antiquing at a couple of nearby places that I had never visited. We started in Hainesport, NJ, at the aptly named Browse Around Shop. I could have spent hours puttering around that store!

Here's a view from the top level:

Tapestries and tassels go together like... fish fingers and custard?

I want to deco my own dress form in this manner (sans pink, of course), but then I wouldn't be able to dress it with clothes. It looks so nice, though ;o;

This set of dishes matches the pattern of a glass set of sugar, flour, and tea cannisters we had when I was a child. They all cracked eventually, but such is life.

I ended up buying a little tapestry loveseat because it was so cheap and I've always loved floral furniture >n<;;; Now I just have to figure out where I'm going to put it? ::laughs:: I'm glad there will be enough room for everyone to sit down when people visit me now ♥

I'll take more photos of it in better light after it's delivered!

Next we went to Center Stage Antiques in Mount Holly, NJ. After experiencing such an amazing store, I think anything else would pale in comparison, but I didn't like this store much anyway. It had more of a warehouse feel, poor lighting, and was markedly more expensive.

As you can see from the photo below, the back wing had a lot of furniture! There were some beautiful pieces, but the atmosphere and prices kind of killed my antiquing mood. >n<;;

It was a bit nicer on the top floor:

This guy had a sort of "Why hello there, m'dear" look to him ♥

Finally, we visited an antique shop at the Columbus flea market. I didn't get any photos because I was pretty much done for the day, but I did find a few things that made the trip worthwhile! Here's my combined haul of antiques for the day (not including the loveseat)...

Clockwise from top left: lace collar, fur stole, lacey crochet tablecloth, wooden embroidery hoop, miniature teacup and cutlery, and a devotional scapular. The inscription on the scapular reads, "Whosoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire"
