shoulder and car recovery

Things have been going fairly well so far with the shoulder although I did not exactly know until this morning...

Had a lot of pain last Thursday and subsequently discovered that I had a bit of bone poking up a bit from my shoulder. I was traveling and I called the orthopedist's office and the person who answered the phone told me I should immediately go to the emergency room when I described what had happened. Well, I did not discover this until Friday and the pain had abated quite a bit by the time I talked to the doctor's office. So I went in search of a couple of the doctors who also happened to be at the game convention and asked what they thought. My initial thinking was that I definitely did not want to spend a day at the emergency room unless absolutely necessary.

One of the doctor friends is a pediatrician and she was not entirely sure. The other said that if the pain was manageable I would probably be okay to wait, but that he was not entirely sure either. So I thought some more about it and decided to wait until I got back to Houston, changed my appointment from Friday to Wednesday and enjoyed the rest of the Gathering of Friends without too much pain.

I went to the doctor this morning and after some X-rays, got to see said doctor. He said things looked pretty good actually and the bone did not need resetting. Whew. I was dreading that having to be done. So I'm going to be wearing a brace for another month, but I might even be able to ride my bike before too long, even with the brace.
