Phoebe came wandering in after she had changed from business suit to something more comfortable.

"Something smells good."

"Hopefully it will taste as good as it smells," Veronica said with a grin.

"Of course it will," Phoebe said getting something to drink. She turned to smile at her friend. "How's married life?"

"It's... interesting, I guess," Veronica said. "It doesn't really feel like anything has changed, so."

Phoebe leaned against the counter. "So that's good, right? That things haven't really changed?"

Veronica nodded. "Yeah, I think it is."

She smiled and nodded. "Good. I'm glad."

"So fill me in on all the good and fun things I've missed with you over the summer," Veronica said.

Phoebe smiled, shaking her head. "Summer school. Ander's ball turned into a woman... and then Anders turned into a woman."

Veronica laughed. "My taser turned human for a day."

Phoebe giggled. "That had to be fun."

"It was certainly interesting," Veronica agreed. "Pretty much same old, same old then?"

Phoebe nodded. "Pretty much. I've been job hunting, too."

"Oh? Looking for anything in particular?" Veronica asked.

Phoebe shrugged slightly. "I put in an application at the newspaper," she admitted.

Biting her lip, Phoebe looked around and then looked at Veronica. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Veronica said.

Because lying to empaths worked so well.

"A newspaper, huh? Remember our old gossip column? That was fun."
