Only a couple of recs
Have been a bit busy and haven't been doing much Merlin stuff the last few days. Well, okay, I really haven't been too busy. I've just been a lazy bum. Same thing, right? ;D
Merlin/Arthur fics
The New Doctor by rotrude. (NC-17; AU; 27,283 words)
Luddite AU. Nottingham, 1812. Arthur Pendragon is the son of the richest Mill-Owner in town and a little bit of a spoilt prat. He has to face unrest among the workers, his father's unrelenting attitude towards them, which he knows might cause trouble since the Luddite movement has made itself heard, and his inexplicable interest in young Doctor Emrys.
These are the types of AUs I like. Ones that still have similarities to the canon era. After meeting Merlin, Arthur can't stop thinking about him and has to seek him out. Their progression to friends was heartwarming and made me smile, especially when Arthur escorted Merlin back home after the coffee shop trip. They are so obviously in love during a time when two men shouldn't feel this way. This fic made me smile and laugh and break my heart. The one thing that made me kinda mehh about it was the typos and odd sentence wording. If I can notice things like that, there's obviously a problem as I'm by no means an expert at writing or grammar or sentence structure. But even with the frequent typos, I was still able to enjoy this story. :)
A Mile In Someone Else’s Shoes, or, How Merlin Got His Groove Back by zempasuchil. (PG-13; 8256 words)
Merlin wakes up one morning to find his magic gone. Arthur wakes up one morning to find that he has magic.
This is such a fun fic! So many amusing scenes when Arthur can't control his newly acquired magic. And then the desire Arthur notices in Merlin's eyes everytime he uses magic makes him desire something as well. ♥
Bradley James/Colin Morgan fics
The Best is Yet to Come by schmoooop. (NC-17)
Wherein Colin comes back from filming his new movie some three or so odd months later, and he and Bradley make up for lost time.
This was such a sweet, adorable fic. Bradley so obviously missed Colin and was being a huge sap, and Colin just smiled and loved him for it. And then it turned insanely hot immediately, which was, well, awesome. Haha. How can you possibly go wrong with a cute fluffy fic with some awesome sex??
