taer_silveroak wins the UBER AWESOME AWARD! Oh my god! THIS MAKES ME WET!
Oh my god. Oh my freaking god. I'm too excited about this to talk about the party today. Ok, but ... oh my god ... I'd better at least give the story.
Today, at the party (which I will talk about IN JUST A SECOND GOSH), there was a surprise guest visitor! Any guesses who it was? It was none other than
taer_silveroak! He was the original Gym Leader of TIY, over 6 years ago. I think James (
daemonicone), Dustin (
enygma315), and my mom (no LJ haha) are the only ones that would remember him, discluding store employees, of course.
So anyway, he was there, and it was, like, freaking PIMP, but you'll never believe what happened next. Heck, I barely can believe it myself. He then handed me a binder as a gift. I really hadn't a clue what on earth was inside, although I guessed Pokemon cards of some sort. Oh god was I right. Inside that binder... was... *hold on, need bigger text*...
THE ENTIRE 1st EDITION BASE SET!!! MINT CONDITION!! OH MY --I can't even say it-- GOD!!
My jaw just dropped. Thank goodness I didn't drop the cards with it, too. That would have been baaaaaaad!
Wow! Wow! WOW!!! Words can't possibly begin to describe my gratitude, and coming from you, the classic and allmighty Gym Leader Kevin, my lord and idol (well, ok, that might be going over the edge a wee bit ~_^). I hereby promise that I will take the absolute best care of these wonderful cards, and cherish them from now until I am ooooold dead. No eBay, ever. Never ever. No trading anything in there. But definitely no locking them away somewhere where I'll forget about them. No, no way, these beauties I am going to keep safe and secure, and in a place where they can be worshipped.
Thank you for passing this wonderful gift onto me! ^_^
It's all like a dream... It just seems so unbelievably unreal!
Well, *ahem*, I've probably gone on about that long enough. I know how I feel, so I'd best not spam up everyone's LiveJournals any more (haha, never gonna stop, never gonna stop meh!). So, I guess I'll talk about the rest of my day!
Ok, so I decided to play in the Tournament today. I was playing Dark Slowking, but different than
enygma315 was playing it. Of course, I built both of the decks anyway, but I wanted to see how different factors affected things. Anyway, I lost my first match to Arvel, then won my next four. The match with Cory at the end was absolutely UNBELIEVABLE! I made such a huge comeback it's not even funny. Ok, so I had a decent start, but he got out his Typhlosion exs fairly fast, and Kindled my Slowkings to death. I managed to get 130 damage on one Typhlosion ex (out of 150HP), but he retreated it and used another one. All seemed hopeless. I had 5 prizes left, and he had 1. I used a Rocket's Poke Ball to get a Dark Slowking from my deck, but I didn't have any left! So I had to wait and use Copycat next turn to get my last Pokemon Retreiver to get the Dark Slowking back, and then I nailed his Plusle with it. I had to keep a close eye on his Energy, though. He brought out the damaged Typhlosion ex, and I killed it next turn. I now had 2 prizes left to his 1. He brought out Amphy to stall until he could get out a Rayquaza ex to try and kill me. I used Cunning to make sure he didn't draw the Lightning Energy he needed in order to win against me. I then Knock Out the Ampharos, and time is called (it's 1 to 1 prize count, so time doesn't matter). Unfortunately, I forgot to use Cunning to make sure he didn't topdeck a Lightning Energy for the game. It didn't matter, though, because he didn't, and he couldn't even play a Steven's Advice because he had 7 cards in his hand and couldn't get rid of one (the No Replacing Same-Name Stadiums rule worked, haha), so he passed. I attached a Crystal Shard, and dumped two Tools Knocking the dang thing out, winning the game! So yeah, I ended up getting 3rd in the Tourney, which ain't too shabby.
Anyway, the League... I don't really remember much that happened in the League. I know I did a lot of trading with Cory and some other people. I managed to get 2 out of the 3 Unowns I didn't have, so all I need is Unown [!] now, and I have the entire set.
After the League, the Party began. I actually let Bramlett stay... I wasn't going to... But I convinced him to be on his best behavior and let him know that if he acts up, he's out. Fortunately, he behaved and stayed with the Budokai 3 crowd most of the time.
Here's a list of everything that was at the party:
- 9 Medium Pizzas
- 3 Gamecubes
- 3 copies of Super Smash Bros. Melee
- 3 TVs
- 1 PS2
- Budokai 3 for PS2
- At least 12 Gamecube controllers
- 20 or so people
We only used 2 of the Gamecubes, because we only had 3 TVs and I figured people might like to play Budokai 3. Darn rabid DBZ fanatics. Oh well, it worked out fine.
The SSBM games would be played as Teams, and people would register themselves, their partner, and the characters both players would play. Characters would not be changable, and it would be a single-elimination tournament. 5 lives, team mode, normal items and stages, random stage selection, and all characters and stages available. Fortunately there were exactly 16 players (8 teams), so it worked absolutely perfect for an elimination-tournament. Kevin was my partner. I was playing Dr. Mario, and Kevin was playing Link. The first round pitted us against Dustin (
enygma315) and Keny (
ninja_pchan). They were the only ones we were really afraid of, because Dustin is the only one that can really beat me. We had a very close match, and we focused on taking out Keny asap, then double-teaming Dustin. The strategy worked, and with some sweet skills, we managed to win against them. Unfortunately, we both lost in the next match against Justin H. and Cody, because we both suck at Brinstar Depths, and I had, like, 2 SDs, and it was awful. But it's ok, because it was still so much fun! Kaleb and Blake ended up winning the whole event, so I gave them each a pack of EX: Unseen Forces.
It was an awesome party, in my opinion, and my spoils include the following:
- A total of $60! Wow!
- Uhh, not sure if I should say it or not, but a nice gift from TIY. :)
- An awesome art set from Bob (mirageatoli), with Pencils, Erasers, Paper, Mechanical Crayons (:O), and some other awesome goodies! JUMBO POCKY!!
- In addition to that, he also had his original drawing of Chansey and Deoxys on the cover of the case, and inside was a copy of the How to Draw Manga Special (not exactly sure what it is, because some of it is original, and some isn't I think, but it's awesome) that Karissa gave him so long ago during her art classes at TIY.
- A sweet Neopets folder with a Chansey, a Chansey coin, a SWEET sticker sheet with a rare pose of Chansey on it, and a FLiPPin' awesome Music Mix CD, all courtesy of Amanda! :D
- Two bottles of Tropicana Strawberry Melon, and a Snickers bar courtesy of James. (Three REVERSE FOIL TV Reporters soon to follow! ^___^)
- So many Chansey cards that I'll have to recount the collection again! (From assorted, caring, nice, awesome people!)
- Reverse Foil Saiyan Saga Orange Focusing Drill, from Brandon.
- Dustin N.'s game data for Budokai 3 (uhh thanks dude?). Now I can pwnz0r teh big 0ne!1!
- AND READ THE FREAKING TOP OF THIS PAGE FOR THAT LAST GIFT!!
It was a great day today, and now I'm uber excited for my birthday!
I really wish I could be as generous with presents as these wonderful people were. It's so easy being the receiver of gifts, but being the giver is a lot more difficult. If I were to buy presents for everyone on their birthday as great as the ones I received today, I'd EASILY be spending over $200 between my friends a year, although probably closer to $300-$400. Seeing as I don't have a job, that's a pretty harsh blow... Sigh, that's why I always end up giving little 5 dollar presents. Now I'll feel bad around their birthdays... :\
I'll have something really funny posted for y'all tomorrow, in honor of my turning 18. What is it? Some of you may know, but the rest of you will have to wait until tomorrow. Bwarharhar! ;3
G'night, chums! I will be having VERY pleasent dreams! ^__________^
