It's been a while since I've posted to my blog and the weeks just seem to whizz by these days. Garry says that it's a result of being a stepparent, as so much time is devoted to the kids and before you know it, another month goes by.

I'm all settled in now and have unpacked the majority of my things. Garry, myself and the kids have a pretty good routine sorted out. The school runs are not as stressful as they were at the start of term and the kids are starting to help out with keeping the place clean and tidy. I made up a pocket money chart as a bit of an added incentive, and also to teach money skills. The kids love it as they're rewarded for their efforts and it's a bit of healthy competition between them too. I love it because it means everyone is contributing to making the house a home.

Alastair started tennis lessons and Evie started ballet lessons a few weeks ago and both of them are absolutely loving it. Emma is pretty busy with Little Athletics stuff at the moment which she does with her Mum on the weekends. It's good that they're all out being active and doing stuff they enjoy.

We also adopted another little puppy dog a month ago, who we named Pacey (after my favourite TV character of all time). He's a spirited little thing. Loves to bite feet and hands, which try as we may, we can't get him to stop. Maybe the obedience training he's attending this afternoon will help that. We have taught him to sit and to stay, and to wait for the command to eat his dinner. Kind of... he's still on a lead when we do it but he's getting there. Charlie is still asserting his dominance and sometimes gets fed up with Pacey's energy, but in the last two weeks they've had quite a few instances where they've played nicely together. I think when Pacey settles down a bit they'll be great friends!

Garry and I had a wonderful weekend last weekend. I blocked out both days so nothing would be booked. We slept in, went for breakfast, cooked dinner together, listened to records and just enjoyed each other's company. Sometimes with life being so busy, you forget that it's the simple pleasures that you miss so much. After that weekend we decided that at least once a month we're booking out a weekend to recharge the batteries.
