I'm super busy and there's a lot going on.
Yesterday I went to see someone re: PPD. In order to start getting help I had to see someone at my ob-gyn office first and foremost. I insisted on seeing the nurse-midwife who was most hands-on at Pixie's birth. Of course, the moment I saw her the waterworks started. I told her how I was feeling, what I was thinking, and, no offense, but I had dreamed about her every night in my repeating birth trauma nightmare for the first four months after Pix was born and I was really sick of seeing her.
I had a lot of questions between the weeping re: what happened while I was unconscious during the emergency C-section. I had always wondered if Pix's heart had completely stopped (it hadn't!) for one thing. It was really, really good to talk with someone who was in the room (John was not allowed in) and who could answer all my stupid questions just by looking over the surgery report. She had pulled it before our meeting, just in case.
I'm to start seeing a therapist (egads) and begin antidepressant medicaton right away. I dropped off the prescription at the pharmacy on the way home. I'm very nervous about taking antidepressants. When Deb the nurse-midwife told me the possible side effect is suicide, I just cringed. Lovely. I had to tell this to John when I got home. He looked pretty shocked.

Pixie is feeling much better. She had a seven-day bout of the runs (yes, we consulted the pediatrician) and it's finally over. We went to disposables while she was sick. Now we're back to cloth again.
She really has an amusing sense of humor. It's fun to play little games with her.

I'm giving a public demo at our local Farmers' Market in mid-August. I'll be showing how to make your own baby food from locally grown, organic produce using minimal equipment. It should be fun!

The heat and humidity have returned. Argh! Poor sheeps are spending lots of time snoring in front of the big barn fans. It's hard on them.

I have just two books remaining to design for the Spring 2008 frontlists. It's been tough now that Pixie naps less and is much more demanding of my time. I'm beginning to think that hiring in-home help for two afternoons each week might be a good investment of money I don't have :D

This is HUGE news for us: Two different publishers have submitted books John illustrated recently to the Society of Illustrators annual children's book illustration show. Just to have books entered by the publishers is a big deal. And if the jury selects either one of them for the show, we'll be going to NYC with the Pixie Pie in tow mid-October for the Big Show!!!!!! Wheeeee!
