(
On the plus side, he hadn't seen any velociraptors... )
Coughing and spluttering as she gasped for breath, the girl pushed herself to her feet. Her white and yellow sneakers were caked with the gunk, as were her khakis and her favorite orange top. Great, just great. Not to mention her hair was an absolute mess, but at least she'd gotten most of the mud out of it. And, not to mention, she was still alive ( ... )

Running a hand through his hair, he noticed that he looked worse-for-wear as well, with his dirt covered jeans, which now sported a few giant splotches of blood. ...Great.
Looking up at the Olette, he offered her a half-grin. How could he not? This was the first present he's seen for hours. Maybe even days--he had seriously lost track of time. "That'd be me," he called back to her. "Olette, right?" He wasn't positively sure that it was her, but it probably was seeing as how they both vowed to find each other near the river.

Olette hadn't, unfortunately. She though she'd heard voices at one point while passing a tree filled with fruit, but before she could investigate, a dinosaur had come barreling towards her. Obviously, she'd had no other choice but to run for her life.

"Have you?" Maybe she had caught a glimpse of Nise. Though it was a stupid question to ask, because she would've obviously brought anyone else along, had she spotted them...

As for now, there was a bigger problem. Biting her lip, Olette surveyed the rushing river separating them. There was no way she could swim across that. Not to mention that it looked deep and there was no telling what sort of carnivorous fish were residing in it. Considering what she'd seen in this place so far, the fish here must be ten times worse than piranhas.
Looking back at Riku, she yelled, "What do you think we should do now?"

"Well, we could always walk in one direction until we find some sort of...nature-made bridge?" he offered, looking around. There were some vines around, so he could try swinging across...

The girl looked upstream, finding that the trees grew right to the water's edge. She wouldn't be able to go that way without leaving the river, which was a risk she wasn't willing to take. They'd have to go the other way.
"Does downstream work for you?" she shouted back, spluttering as a strand of her muddy hair got caught in her mouth. Gross.

"Or I could always try swinging across...?" He tugged on the vine even harder, side stepping some giant bug that had fallen out of the tree. He shuddered.

Of course, that was an understatement. Vicious fish, depths unknown, a current that was moving at least fifteen miles an hour - granted, she wasn't always good at judging speeds, but it had to be close to that - and a cliff on one bank. If Riku fell in, she wasn't sure what would happen.

And he had his band back in the future to think of. Assuming they got back to the future.
Looking around, he spotted a rock and decided that'd be perfect for testing. Tying the rock to one of the vines, he walked back a bit. "Watch out," he shouted and then swung the vine to see if the rock would make it to the other side.

"I think it's okay!" she called back, though she still sounded uncertain, "Are you sure you want to try this?"

"...What's there to lose? Aside from my life, of course," Riku shouted across the river. "Besides, it could be days before we find another way across."
Reply
Oh, she really didn't feel good about this.
Nevertheless, she took a deep breath and waved him over. "All right, go for it! Just try not to slip and fall to your death or anything, okay?"

Taking a deep breath, he pulled the vine back and took a running leap, just barely suppressing the urge to a Tarzan jungle call. God knows that would've attracted more dinosaurs than necessary.
[ooc: I LEAVE RIKU'S FATE IN YOUR HANDS. XD]

Saw the vine snap.
Saw Riku fall.
"Riku!" screamed Olette. She dived for the edge of the bank, fingers latching onto his forearm just in time. She knew this was a bad idea, a really, really bad idea, and now that fish-crocodile-dinosaur thing was rearing upwards, and oh, they were in trouble now.
{ i tried? xD }

Finally, he managed to heave himself halfway up on the ledge. "Holy crap," he said with a sigh, pulling himself up all of the way. "Never trying that again." He offered Olette a half-smile before looking down at his shoe-less foot.
Life was so cruel to him today. First his favourite shirt, then his favourite shoe.
[you make Riku sad XD]
