The following pie was brought to you by the good people at
Just Pies (“Don't bother with the details, just give us the pie”*).
It was eagerly consumed by
undinesprite and myself a few weekends ago. Unfortunately, having access to
Ghyslain and
Mozart's pastries leads one to become quite jaded, even when presented with such a magisterial example of the genus Pie.
The goat cheese strata, shown above was provided-at least by example-by the wonderful hostess
tammy_g during the time
undinesprite and I visited her home.
She served it to an appreciative and vocal audience, myself included, and after
undinesprite and I returned home and had the recipe in hand I had to try it myself. The results are shown above.
tammy_g's was better, but even throwing these ingredients together in the haphazard and entirely cavalier way I typically operate when in the kicthen is apparently enough to produce tasty results.
I like recipes like that.
And you wouldn't believe the scents that fill the apartment when this is cooked . . . goat cheese, basil, prosciutto. . . salty, warm, aromatic. Wonderful.
*Ok, I made that up.
