Home sweet home
Had a busy couple of days off. The day before yesterday, I finally got our library room in order. Now I just need a comfortable chair or two so I won't have to sit on pillows on the floor (easier before I was pregnant). Already, we have to look into getting more bookshelves (my cookbooks are stacked on the floor), but that's not a bad thing at all, in my opinion. ^_^
Yesterday my dad and I did some (sweltering) outdoor work. Our house has a wonderful screened in porch, but the previous owners were strange enough to cover the screens with this hideous, plastic, tight lattice work. For those of you who like/approve of lattice, even you would find this stuff revolting. It blocked the breeze and the light and made the porch feel very much like a stuffy, enclosed room. Well, yesterday Pop came over and we took the damn stuff down. Now it's wonderful. The breeze comes through and it really feels like you're outside. Tom and I ate dinner out there tonight and it was perfect. ^___^ I knew there was always the potential for me to love that porch, and now I do.
Owning a house is turning out to be very thrilling. I just ordered a magazine subscription, and for the first time since getting married, I knew with certainty that I would still live here throughout the duration of the subscription. It's a nice feeling. And other projects (like the lattice and the floors that Tom's working on) are very rewarding as well - nothing like living in an apartment. We made our first mortgage payment this week, too. I feel awfully grown up. Well, not really, but it's fun pretending that I do. ^_~
