Vacation: day two

Aug 11, 2007 09:49

Mmm... Breakfast was fantastic. First course was a flaky biscuit tart covered with berries. I ate around the strawberries (ugh!) but the blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries were divine. The main course was a plate of spice pancakes topped with baked apples and a sprinkling of powdered sugar. I actually couldn't finish it all, it was so good. ♥

Took Tom to his painting class and came back to the inn to write a bit. But on second thought, while it's still cool out, I'll walk the mile to the Riverwalk and buy those books I wanted at B&N. It's gonna be a hot one, but it's *really* fantastic out there right now.

Last night we went to a place called Dewey's for some very good pizza. Then we watched The Bourne Ultimatum, which was somehow just as good as the other two. I'm not a huge fan of Matt Damon, but he really has the Jason Bourne character down. It's almost too bad that they won't be doing any more.

Well, if I'm to avoid the heat, I should head out now. I hope everyone's having a wonderful weekend.

ETA: The walk down to the river was *much* more pleasant, partly because of the heat and partly because the way back was uphill the whole way. Still, I feel like I've accomplished something, and I got my delicious little boys' school book. ::lecherous grin:: I stopped in a couple of quaint little shops on the way back - a knitting store with more yarns than I imagined possible, a bead shop that, alas, did *not* have what I was looking for, and a little diner that served unfortunately mediocre grilled cheese sandwiches (how is it even possible to make my favorite food so blah?!) and had almost no cute atmosphere at all. I passed on a couple of very adorable cafes, charmed by the small-town, Mom & Pop style of this place. Gah. I wish I'd gone to Mrs. Potter's Tea Shoppe instead.

Now I'm basking in the air conditioning and trying to finish chapter eleven before I go fetch Tom at five. ^_^
