Working Out
- Outdoor Yoga on Saturday
- Hotel room yoga Thursday and Friday mornings since I was away for work...hotel room yoga is absolutely essential; I am always sore when I am away from home. It's also a great way to wake up and have something to do while I'm waiting for the roomie (yes, we have roomies when away for work) to finish in the shower.
- I don't really work out lately. I move boxes and pull weeds and sweat like a sow, but it's not exactly working out.
Making Stuff
- Other than a mess, not much time for this. I did make a tawashi during PD because I thought that would be less rude than falling asleep during presentations.
Socializing
- The main advantage of being away for work is that it is mainly social. I wish they would just admit that it is social and stop trying to do boring things. Could we just do workshops and department time all day long please?
Moving
- I've entered desperation packing mode. The good news is, there were lots of boxes in the various dumpsters I frequent (I know how that sounds, but really, who pays for boxes?!) so hopefully I have enough. Bless her heart, sundaygray is going to help me pack my kitchen, which is still largely not packed.
- Took care of changing over the cable service
- The scary-ass boilers are being drained and will be removed in the next couple of days.
- I don't know why the stove pilot light doesn't light.
- I need to call the electrician to redo the fuse box.
- Took old computer, bags of computer- and phone-related items, and the horrible "Rose For Emily" foofy curtains from the house to Goodwill. Dang. There are still more foofy curtains. They make me itch when I take them down.
- Rufus seems to know something is up. He was sick while I was away and for a little bit while I was back (you really don't want the details of that) and ran out the door yesterday - something he has not done in months. He was so calm when I picked him up and carried him like a baby back to the apartment. Cassie has moved with me a number of times, but Rufus never has. I can see why he might be unsettled.
Work
- I'm 99.9% done with grading - I just need one kid to be put on the right roster so I can finalize grades.
- Thursday evening there was so much blah blah blah and presentations and awards and the CEO of the parent company and I was sitting there texting about how bored I was when they called my name! I was totally flabbergasted because I'm not big on self-promotion, I'm not a rock star, I just do what I think my job is and hope I'm not screwing it up too much. Anyway I now am the proud owner of a plaque that commends me for "Outstanding Student and Parent Support". Apparently all that calling (which I hate doing) and dragging kids into one-on-one sessions was noticed. Oh, and it came with an extra $500, which I promptly spent on a composter and a speeding ticket.
- I hope they don't give us much extra crap to do for the rest of the month. I would really like to get my packing done.
